Sarah is a graduate of Christopher Newport University 2015, where she studied Musical Theatre and Political Science. This is where she discovered her love for theatre and storytelling. She then went on to attend The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama where she received her M.A in Theatre Criticism and Dramaturgy, with a focus on historic representation of women.

For Sarah, Theatre is the ultimate art form, nowhere else can one find so many forms of creativity and imagination. Theatre examines the foundations of human connection and has the power to challenge political, economic, and societal structures; it encourages collaboration, discussion, and dialogue. Sarah's aspirations are to continue these attributes in theatre and adapt them to a modern context.

Her priority in the arts is promoting true community engagement that fosters wealth equity and empowerment. Storytelling is just the beginning of creating effective and lasting change, the next steps are providing pathways that allow audiences to get involved. In her own plays, it is written into each script to create partnerships with local and national organizations that revolve around the themes of the play.

Equity

Equity means more than providing everyone the same opportunity, it means providing accessible opportunities that are flexible and customized to meet the needs of those it is provided to. This is an integral part of creating meaningful change in the arts and is the central focus of any project I work on/with as well as my overall work as an artist.

My Values

Diversity

Theatre is a collaborative industry, and because of that, it is imperative to have as many voices in the room as we can. Artistry is not limited to any single perspective, it should be constantly challenging societal norms and practices.

Inclusion

Inclusivity is not solely about opening space, but about creating sustainability. My goal is to center my work around wealth sharing; enabling all artists who are involved in projects fair and equitable payment for their labor and creativity.
